Drawing a compass is not as difficult as it seems. With knowledge and practice, anyone can become a master at it. Start by equipping yourself with necessary materials: a sheet of good quality paper, a compass, a few pencils, a ruler, a protractor and a sharpener. All of these things are essential when you are creating a compass! Now you are ready to start.

Draw an approximate circle with your compass. Keep in mind that if you make it too big, you may not be able to see all the details of your compass. Next, draw a vertical line and a horizontal line intersecting one another at the center of the circle. Make sure both the vertical and horizontal lines are the same length. This will be the base from which you begin creating the compass.

Mark four equally spaced points on the circumference of the circle and label them north, east, south and west. This will help you create a starting point for your compass. To mark the points, use a ruler and draw a tiny dot at the edge of the circle. Use a protractor to make sure the angles are correct. Finally, draw the radial lines with the compass at each point that you have marked.

Once your radial lines have been completed, you can begin drawing the face of the compass. Begin by drawing a circle in the middle of the original circle. Make sure it is the same size as the circumference of the circle. You can either draw it freehand or use a protractor to make sure that it is the exact same size. If you choose to use a protractor, make sure to draw the circle in one smooth motion.
