Hedgehogs are undeniably adorable and they’ve taken the art world by storm lately! But unless you’re an experienced illustrator, drawing them can seem like a super intimidating task. Fear not! Drawing a hedgehog is super easy; you just need the right steps and tips. So grab your pencils, ink markers and crayons and get ready to create your best hedgehog illustration ever!

First, pick your pose. A hedgehog can make a great addition to your work whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner. You can draw them from different angles: sitting, laying down, climbing a tree, walking, etc. The choice is yours!

Second, make a sketch. Once you know the type of pose you want your hedgehog to adopt, it’s time to start drawing! Make a light sketch to try out different ideas before drawing your final hedgehog. Don’t forget to look for references if you are having trouble drawing your hedgehog from imagination.

Third, define the outline. Now it’s time to make your hedgehog look distinctive…and that’s where the outline comes in! Trace your sketch with a black marker or ink pen, adding clear details. Hedgehogs have a unique spiny shape, so the outline will define where their spines should be.
