How To Draw A Heel In Five Easy Steps

Drawing is really the way to express yourself, so the challenge of learning to draw something like a heel is totally worth it! Drawing heels is both joyous and rewarding, and luckily, it’s not incredibly difficult. Just follow these five steps and you’ll be well on your way to rocking some stellar heel renderings!

Step One: Outline the general shapes of your heel

The first step to drawing a heel is to sketch out its basic shape. Start with a curved line that’s slightly wider at the top and comes to a point at the bottom. Then draw a vertical line up the side of it. You’ll use this to build off of as you go along, so make sure it’s in place before you start filling in details.

Step Two: Sketch in details

Now it’s time to start making your drawing look more like a heel! Add a small triangle to the top right or left corner of the curved line, for the heel of the shoe. Then draw a few extra curved lines around the outside of the curved line, for the straps. Add a few diagonal lines from the heel up the sides of the shoe, and a few small circles at the base of the triangle for studs.

Step Three: Add depth and texture

This is where things start getting really fun! Using various thicknesses of pencils, start to shade in your details. For the straps, use thick lines to give the texture of leather. Then use thin lines to give them an aged, worn-in look. For the studs, use dots and circles to give them a metal-like appearance.

Step Four: Color it in
