How To Draw A Drawing

Drawing is a superpower that anybody can wield. It’s a fantastic way to express yourself, create a narrative, and revel in a moment of enchantment. You don’t need any fancy supplies (or even great talent), just a willingness to learn and explore. Here’s how to start!

Gather Supplies

All you need for your next masterpiece is something to draw on and something to draw with. Paper, pencils, and an eraser are great basic supplies. If you’re feeling adventurous, try pens with different colors and nibs, markers, colored pencils, and paints.

Choose What To Draw

When starting with a blank page, it can be intimidating trying to decide what to draw. You can start with simple shapes, like circles, and then use them as building blocks, like adding two eyes and a smiley face to the circle to make a funny face. You can draw something from your imagination, or try to sketch something you see in real life. Take inspiration from art that you like–copying a famous artist’s work (legally!) is a great way to get your feet wet in the drawing world.

Practice

The more you practice, the better you’ll become. Keep a sketchbook nearby and let your creativity run wild. Take classes or watch YouTube tutorials to learn about shading, line work, and perspective. It’s not about the final product, it’s about the journey.

Don’t Compare Yourself To Others
