How To Draw A Cute Dolphin

Do you love dolphins? Ever wondered how to draw one? Drawing a cute dolphin is simple with a little practice and a few tips. You’ll be making the cutest dolphins ever in no time!

First, grab a pencil, paper, and eraser. Using a light touch, draw two circles on the paper, one slightly larger than the other. These will make up the head and body of the dolphin. Connect the circles with a curved line, starting at the top of the bigger one and ending at the top of the smaller one.

Next, begin sketching the fins. Draw an inverted V for the dorsal fin and two round shapes for the pectoral fins. Add two curved lines for the tail fin, and then draw a curved line down the front part of the body and two behind it, adding some volume to the dolphin’s body. Add two wavy lines between the body and head for the face, finishing with two round shapes for the eyes.

To make the dolphin look even cuter, erase some of the lines. Where the circles of the body and head meet, leave a small gap, this will help make the shape softer. At the end of the body, also erase some of the lines to determine the shape of the tail. Smooth out any remaining lines as necessary.

Finally, add the details that make it look realistic. Add the smile on the face with a few curved lines. Add four small curves to the head, near the eyes, for a playful expression. On the fins, add texture with a few small lines. Use your eraser to smoothen any lines that might look off. Thanks to these few tips, you will have a cute dolphin swimming in the sea in no time!

Have some fun with shading and give your dolphin extra personality. For example, you can use your pencil shade to draw wavy lines to create water, making it look as though the dolphin is swimming. You can also draw tiny bubbles coming out of the dolphin’s mouth, just like in real life. Play with the light and shadows for an even more realistic effect.

Using a few basic strokes, you can make your dolphin look natural. Begin by adding subtle light and dark shades of the same color to your drawing. Go from light to darker on the body, fins and tail. This will create more volume and make the curves look sharper.

Be sure to draw in the details such as the blowhole, the creases in the fins and tail, and the ridges behind the dorsal fin. Add little details like seaweed or a starfish, if you want. You can draw a backdrop like a blue sky, white clouds or an underwater scene. Maybe even draw your own version of ‘Flipper’! Experiment and have fun!

With the right tools and a little bit of practice, you can easily draw a cute dolphin. Advance your skills by practicing from pictures and photos. Soon, your creations will become so realistic and life-like, you’ll find yourself in a world of adorable dolphins!
