How To Draw A Lego Man

Creating a Lego Man can be fun and exciting! Don’t let a lack of drawing skills slow you down – with a few simple tips and some practice, you can easily draw your own Lego Man!
First, you’ll need a few supplies. You’ll want a pencil, sketchpad, coloring pencils, or markers. You’ll also need some basic knowledge of basic anatomical shapes – squares, circles, rectangles, and so on.
Start by sketching out a basic rectangle for your Lego Man. Picture him standing straight up, arms at his sides, and feet slightly apart. Use your pencil to draw a long rectangle for his body. Use two small circles for the head and two skinny rectangles for the arms. A pair of smaller rectangles will become his legs.
Then it’s time to add details. Add two circular eyes, a curved rectangle at the top of the head for his hat, and rectangular shapes at the sides of the body for his arms. To create the arms and legs, draw two oblong shapes. At the bottom of the oblong, add two rectangles to give your Lego Man “boots” or “shoes”. Then draw four rectangular hands and four rectangular feet to the sides of the rectangular arms and legs.
Finally, color in your Lego Man. Use bright and fun colors to bring life to your drawing! Don’t forget to color the head a different color than the body.

Adding Accessories

When drawing a Lego Man, accessories are one of the most important elements! Once you’re done with the drawing, use your coloring pencils or markers to add details like a bowtie and suspenders, buttons and pockets, or a cape and a sword. You can draw any sorts of fun items to make your Lego Man unique!
If you want to add wrinkles, or give your Lego Man a smile, feel free. Use your pencil to draw short curved lines on pieces of clothing to create a more rugged look. Be creative, and have fun!

Drawing Proportionately

When drawing a Lego Man, it’s important to pay attention to proportion – in other words, draw your Lego man to scale! Have your Lego Man stand shorter than the guard, taller than the fireman, and so on. Keep the edges of his arms and legs flat and boxy – curved edges don’t look natural on a Lego Man!

Practice Makes Perfect

As with any art, practice is key when it comes to drawing a Lego Man. Take your time and don’t be afraid to play around with your drawing until you’re happy with it. If you feel like you need some help, look in art books or online for tutorials and tips.

Choose Your Background

Once you’re done with the Lego Man itself, it’s time to choose his background. Draw a castle, a spaceship, a fire truck, and so on. Use your imagination and create a world that your Lego Man can explore and play in.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to drawing your own Lego Man! With a few simple tips and some practice, you can create a Lego Man that looks just like it leapt off the page of the instruction manual. So grab a sketchpad, your favorite art supplies, and get to work!
