Materials Needed
Before learning how to draw a policeman, it is important to acquire all the relevant items needed. The main materials you will need are a pencil and a piece of paper. It is also helpful to have a ruler, eraser, and coloring pencils or markers if you prefer to color your pictures.
Shape of Body
The initial step to drawing a policeman is to create a basic outline of the body structure. To start, draw two circles connected by a straight line. This will be the torso, head and arms of the policeman. Then draw a rectangle below the line to serve as the trousers. Afterwards, draw the hands and feet. For the face, create another circle with two dots for eyes and a curved line for the mouth.
Uniform and Accessories

Then, draw two straps connecting the hat and neck. After that, draw a belt on top of the trousers and two crosses on the front and back of the belt. Make sure to add the badge through a triangular shape and add suitable pockets on the trousers. Finally, draw the boots and buttons to complete the uniform.
Details and Color
Now, it is time to add the details. To make the policeman look more realistic, add the wrinkles on the face and around the eyes, the creases on the arms and legs and finally, the facial features such as eyebrows and ears. After all the details are added, it is time to add color to the picture. Choose colors that are suitable for a policeman’s uniform and accessories. Make sure to color the hat black and use several shades of blue and grey for the trousers and shirt.
Final Touches
Before the picture is considered finished, some final touches are required. These include adding shadows and reflections to the eyes and some highlights on the uniform and accessories. These details will make the policeman drawing appear more lifelike, adding a natural charm and appeal to the overall drawing.
