How to Draw a Scorpion
Drawing a scorpion doesn’t have to be intimidating – all it takes is a bit of practice and patience to master the art of sketching. With the right materials and a few simple tips, you can quickly draw an incredible scorpion and blow away your friends and family.
1. Gather the right tools
You’ll need a few basic art supplies to get started: a piece of paper, a pencil or pen, an eraser, and possibly some colored pencils or markers. Once you’ve collected your materials, it’s time to begin sketching.
2. Understand the anatomy of a scorpion
Before you start sketching, take a few moments to take in the anatomy of a scorpion. Visualize the two pincers on either side of the head, the eyes at the top, and the raised tail curved over the body, tipped with a stinger.
3. Sketch the basic lines
Using your pencil, start to draw out a rough outline of the scorpion’s body. First, draw an oval shape, curved at the sides with a flat bottom, surrounded by four thin legs on each side. Then, draw two thin oval shapes along the top for the eyes, and a curved line running from the back of the head to the front for the mouth. Now, draw two thin curved lines on each side for the claws, and finally, draw a thick curved line along the back for the tail.
4. Define the details
When your initial sketch is complete, start to add details. Use your eraser to refine the shape of the legs and the claws; add segments to the tail, and create tiny dots on the legs and body. Finally, erase any rough edges and use a pen or coloured pencils to finish off your masterpiece.
