How To Draw Trucks
Do you want to learn how to draw a truck? Drawing a truck doesn’t have to be a daunting task with these quick and easy steps. All you need is some paper, a pencil, and some basic knowledge of how to draw. You’ll be creating amazing works of art in no time!
First, you’ll want to sketch out the basic shape of the truck. Start by drawing a rectangle with two shorter rectangles on top of it. This will be the cab of the truck. Then, draw a line at the ground level of the cab and extend it across the entire width of the rectangle. This will be the bottom of the truck.
Next, draw two curved lines that extend from the back of the cab to the front. This will be the side view of the truck. Add two rectangular shapes that extend from the sides of the cab and these will be the wheel wells. Add in the wheel details on the wheel wells and then add the front grille if you are drawing a front-wheel-drive truck.
Now that the basic outline is done, it’s time to fill it in with details. Start with the hood of the truck and draw a sloped line to the front grille. Add headlights and draw a line from the front to back of the grille. Start to fill in the sides with details like mirrors, windows, and door handles. Draw the tires and rims, and the back of the truck with details like tail lights, a spoiler, and a bumper.
After you’ve finished the details, it’s time to add color. You can make the truck look more realistic by shading it in with colored pencils or markers. Make sure to blend the colors together and pay attention to the light source that you’ve chosen. You can also add additional details like flames, custom wheels, or other shapes.
Now you know how to draw basic trucks without spending hours trying to figure out how to do it! Now it’s time to let your imagination go wild and draw more creative and elaborate trucks.
Drawing the Wheels
When it comes to drawing a truck, the wheels are one of the most important aspects. They’re the part of the truck that makes them look realistic, so making sure that your wheels look perfect is integral.
Start by drawing the basic outline of the wheel like a circular shape with a small rectangle beneath it. This will form the basis of the wheel. Next, draw the spokes and the lug nuts. Remember that the spokes should be drawn in a curved line, but the nuts should be drawn in a straight line. After that, add in details like the edges of the tire and the treads.
You can also give your wheels a more realistic look by shading them in with colored pencils or markers. Start with the larger circles and gradually build up the medium and small circles around it. Remember to layer your color and make sure that each circle is darker than the one before it.
When it comes to the tires, use an eraser to give the tires a ridged look. Start with the outside of the tire and work your way down towards the center in a circular motion. This will give the effect of the tire being indented and ridged.
Drawing the Bed of the Truck
The bed of the truck is the flat part of the truck that’s usually in the back, and it’s a great place to draw your custom designs. Start by drawing a wide rectangle which will be the basis of the bed. Then draw a line that goes across the entire bed, which will be the dividing line between the two sides.
Next, draw two rectangular shapes that are slightly smaller than the bed to create the sides of the truck. Finally, draw a small line along the sides of the bed, which will be the side rails.
Once you’ve finished the basic outline, start adding details. Draw the back window, bed cover, and tail lights. You can also draw the tool box and the bumper if you’re wanting to make the truck look more realistic.
To make the bed of the truck look more realistic, you can use colored pencils or markers to give it dimension. Create a gradient effect by beginning with a light color at the top, and gradually adding darker colors for the shadows. This will give the bed of the truck more depth and realism.
Drawing the Door Handles and Mirrors
The details on a truck can make all the difference in how realistic it looks. Pay attention while drawing the door handles and mirrors, as these usually give away which way the truck is facing.
Start by drawing the window in the door. To draw a believable window, make sure that it follows the contours of the truck and has a subtle curve. Once you’ve finished drawing the windows, draw two small ovals at the bottom of the window, which will be the door handles.
Now you can draw the mirrors. Start with a basic oval shape and then draw two rectangular shapes coming out of the top of the oval. This will form the basis of the mirror. Finally, draw in the details of the mirror, like the turnsignal arrows and the round edges.
Once you’ve finished drawing the mirror, add in details with shading and reflections. To make the door handles look more realistic, layer your colors and use different shades to create shadows and highlights.
Drawing the Grille, Bumpers, and Front Lights
The grille and front lights are the most difficult parts of the truck to draw, but with enough practice you can master it. Start by drawing a rectangular shape at the front of the truck, which will be the basis of the grille. Then draw the details of the grille, which are usually small vertical lines or checkerboard patterns.
Once you’ve finished drawing the grille, draw two ovals on either side of the grille, which will be the headlights. To make the headlights look more realistic, layer your colors and use lighter colors to add highlights.
Next, draw two large rectangles at the bottom of the truck which will be the bumpers. Draw in the details of the bumpers, like the turn signals and the tail lights. Finally, draw a line across the middle of the bumper to create the dividing line between the two sides.
Once you’ve finished drawing all of the details of the truck, you can start to add the finishing touches. You could draw the custom pieces, or you could use a marker to draw in the details like stripes or flames. Just remember to be creative and have fun! Drawing trucks can be daunting, but with the right steps you can create amazing works of art.
