Start With the Lines
To make it easy to draw waves, start with the lines. Draw a curved line, with a more exaggerated curve on the sides. For the lower line, create the opposite of the curve you just drew. This line should be wavy and should pass gradually around the upper line. This will ensure that the waves look right when you use color.
Enhance the Undulations
Now that you have the basic lines of your waves down, it’s time to enhance. You can do this in a few ways. To give the waves a textured look, draw small lines in between the main lines. Make sure to use varying lengths and angles to create realistic-looking crests and troughs. You can also create a more uniform texture by extending the original curves outward to create a wavy zig-zag pattern.
